We search through hundreds of toys each
month, looking for those soft loveable plush dolls and animals
in mint condition, that still look brand new.
With several years experience helping
families find backups and replacements for lost lovies on our
Search Service, we specialize in the kinds of plush stuffed
animals and dolls that people have a hard time finding anywhere
else.
There is
no way we can learn enough about all the stuffed animals and
soft dolls available to choose wisely which ones to offer to
you. So we try to limit most of our stock to certain brands and
types of plush toys.
You'll
find a wide variety of Gund, RUSS, Boyd, Eden, Carter's, Ganz, DanDee,
Applause, Fisher Price, PlaySkool, Disney, and Cabbage Patch
Kids. We're particularly attracted to soft dolls and teddy
bears. We also offer a wide variety of advertising animals and
characters, plush characters from television, movies, and
cartoons, puppets, washable baby stuffed toys, and team mascot
animals.
We are in the process of putting our inventory online, so you can easily buy from us directly.
There
are symbols on the tush tag of many toys that tell you how to
clean that toy. This one indicates that it can be machine washed
in warm water, and tumble dried, but not bleached.
If it can be
machine washed, the best way is to put it in a pillow case and
tie a loose knot in the end. Run it through the washing machine
on gentle cycle in cold water, with detergent, but no bleach. We
use dye-free and scent-free Tide. We then place the stuffed
animal on a large absorbent towel to dry. Occasionally, there
will be a need to pre-treat an area of soil, for which we use
Shout. Sometimes we find a plush lovey with just a little light
soil from being on a shelf. In that case, we usually hand wash
it with mild dishwashing liquid and let it air dry.

Our part of
Alabama is at the very tip end of the Appalachian chain, and
there are still a lot of places tucked back off the beaten path
around here that look like time has stood still.
There are
even two covered bridges within 20 minutes of us. It's a
beautiful area, convenient to the big city of Birmingham, but
also, quiet and picturesque.
We live on
Hard Scrabble Hill, which is an old Appalachian term for land
that's hard to farm. The dirty butter part is another
Appalachian term we ran across years ago, that refers to
homemade butter, but hopefully not really dirty.
Anyway,
we're just weird enough, I guess, to like it.
So we named
our house Dirty Butter Estate on Hard Scrabble Hill, and now
we're using the Dirty Butter name with our shops.
