Feeling Good Today, But Giving Up on Blogger for Now

Day by Day with a Movement Disorder Posted on November 17, 2006 by DBNovember 17, 2006 2

I felt much better today, waking up without a headache, neckache, or sore shoulders. I even managed to get through the day with only a little bit of nausea. I was able to make a brisk walk up to Daddy’s and back this morning, without getting too tired, and I’ve practiced the Tai Chi form once today, too.

I spent most of today trying to get this blog template to suit me, but I’ve decided that I’m going to give in and call it quits. I was hoping I could learn enough XHTML to be able to make the changes I wanted to make, but it’s just taking too much of my time, what with Thanksgiving so close. Maybe I’ll play with it some more later on, after the Holidays are over.

Well, as You Can See – I’m Back to Plain!! YUCK!!

Day by Day with a Movement Disorder Posted on November 14, 2006 by DBNovember 14, 2006 6

My advice to anyone who hasn’t changed to Blogger Beta is DON’T!!! I’m having way too much trouble with this. I finally get it just right in FireFox, and no matter what I do, I can’t fix it in IE. I even went back and started over with the simple template again, and monitored one change at a time, to see what was causing the problem with IE. Once I had the problem, undid the change, the problem wouldn’t go away!!! What a messy piece of programming!! Google should be ashamed of themselves. Do I sound peeved? Well, I am.

On a happier note, I have a Tai Chi lesson today. Not sure how well I’ll do, as nauseated as I’ve been, and as stiff as my shoulders and neck have been the last few days, but I’m hoping the exercise will help. It always leaves me feeling very relaxed, and, as you can tell, I need that right now.

Blog Move Is Finished, More or Less

Day by Day with a Movement Disorder Posted on November 13, 2006 by DBMay 7, 2016 2

I’ve been a very busy lady, working to turn the plain black and white template into what looks as much like what I had before as I possibly can. There’s bound to be something I’ve forgotten to do, but I’m sure I’ll realize it sooner or later ;).

I’ve been sitting very still at the computer pretty much all day for the last few days, as that’s the only way I can keep the nausea under control. I’ve had a bad headache, too, for the last few days. My neck and shoulder muscles have been so tight that I think that’s where the headache is coming from. I’m thinking the Requip dose may not be quite strong enough, but my stomach is not handling the dose I’m on now as well as I’d hoped.

I’ve sent off a description of my situation and my meds to ASK THE DOCTOR – National Parkinson Foundation to see what that doctor thinks would be the best course of action.

So I seem to go from a few good days to weeks of feeling not so good. I don’t know which doctor to call again, and that’s why I’ve written to the Ask the Doctor site, hoping they could give me some guidance.

PS. I just checked the blog with IE, and I see that it only has one column! I played around with the column width just for a moment, with no change at all. So that chore will have to wait for another day. Just bear with me, folks.

New Blog with Beta Blogger

Day by Day with a Movement Disorder Posted on August 20, 2006 by DBAugust 20, 2006

I thought I’d give the new Beta Blogger a try with a new blog about my problems using my legs. You’ll see me trying different templates and doodads as I fiddle with this new system. From time to time I may do a post about what I’m trying out with the beta.

But mainly, I wanted a place to talk about the strange goings on with my walking. Just a little background material. I do have an old herniated lumbar disk that flares up and causes trouble from time to time, and I have spurs on some cervical vertebrae that also give me fits at times. I’ve had numerous epidurals over the years for both. There have been several episodes when my back was hurting, as it was this last year, when the sciatic nerve was involved, where I had trouble walking. Every other time, the walking improved and went back to normal with time when the back healed. It didn’t happen that way this time.

After the series of epidurals took care of the back pain in April, I still have not been able to take a normal step. Every step is like picking up lead weights, and it’s all I can do to move my feet. There’s no pain, but it doesn’t take much walking to exhaust me completely. So, mostly I’ve been sitting and working on the computer for the last few months, waiting for doctor’s appointments, first with the orthopedist, then with the EMG tech, and now with the best Neurologist we could find.
